Facebook Info Leaked: 100m Personal Details on Torrent file?

We have some worrying news to report now, as it has been confirmed that the personal details of over 100 million Facebook accounts have been obtained and they are now available to download via bittorrent.

According to this report from PC World, Ron Bowes of Skull Security is the person responsible for creating the torrent. By using a web crawler program, he was able to harvest all the personal information from those who decided not to change their privacy settings on Facebook.

This means of course, that Facebook accounts without privacy settings are open to everyone to view publicly, so there is nothing illegal in what Ron Bowes has done. Here is what he had to say on this:

“…this is a scary privacy issue. I can find the name of pretty much every person on Facebook…Once I have the name and URL of a user, I can view, by default, their picture, friends, information about them, and some other details.”

Just to give you an idea of this, Ron Bowes now has access to the personal details of 1 in 5 members on Facebook. Question is though – does he have your information stored in that torrent file?

How does it feel knowing that your info may be in the possession of other users? Let us know your thoughts on this – we’ll update you on this story later.

It has been reported that three people are jointly filing a lawsuit against Apple, over claims that the company lied to them about promises made about the iPad’s eBook reading capabilities.

According to this report from CNN, the iPad shuts off after a certain amount of hours, when exposed in direct sunlight. The users have said that Apple hasn’t met it’s promises when they said that reading on the iPad is ‘just like a book’.

Apple’s iPad shutdown also occurs on the iPod Touch and iPhone devices, giving users the message that the device is operating at a high temperature level and should be left alone to cool down for a while.

If Apple hadn’t of said that reading on the iPad is the same as on a real book, then we wouldn’t have an issue here. Instead, there appears to be further trouble on the way for Apple.

Do you read eBooks regularly on your iPad? If so, let us know your thoughts on this – especially if you have received the overheating message.

2011 Chevrolet Volt: Premium unleaded only please

A lot of auto news recently has been plagued with reports on the new 2011 Chevrolet Volt from General Motors. Here at PR we have kept you informed with the latest news, such as the Volts price reveal, and a comparison report between the Volt and its main rival Nissan’s Leaf.

Now the big selling point for the Volt (and the Leaf for that matter) is the capabilities to cover distances of up to 40 miles on a single charge from its plug and play hybrid powerplant, this is with out any assistance from the 1.4-liter gasoline engine.

However a report from Autoblog states that when the time comes to full up the tank on your hybrid, GM are insisting that you use premium gasoline only? Now obviously these fill ups will be few and far between, but it does seem strange that the energy efficient customers are being pushed into spending more for their fuel.

The only explanation that can be gleamed from this, is that GM’s technical team might have been able to source abit more energy efficiency from the higher octane fuel, although this theory has not been backed up by the auto manufacturer. As of yet there are still no mpg figures for the Volt whilst running on its petrol engine though we will keep you informed. So it leads to the question “would you still be happy to run your hybrid on higher costing gasoline as instructed by your dealer”? Give us your views.
